Project Overview
Boiltimer reimagines the Pomodoro technique through the lens of a cozy coffee ritual. Each focus session is a "brew" — users set their timer, grind through tasks, and earn brew points that accumulate into a satisfying productivity journal.
The app combines a clean task manager with a beautiful circular brew timer, progress dashboards showing daily and weekly stats, and a charming coffee-shop aesthetic that makes working feel like settling into your favorite café. Features include customizable session lengths, task completion tracking per brew, and warm stat cards that visualize your productivity patterns over time.
Boiltimer proves that productivity tools don't have to feel clinical — they can feel warm, inviting, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
The Approach & Solution
Boiltimer's development focused on blending utility with delight — creating a tool people reach for because it feels good, not just because it works.
Architecture: Flutter-based with a modular feature structure. The timer, task manager, and stats modules operate independently but share a unified data layer for seamless cross-feature insights like "tasks completed per brew session."
Design System: A warm latte-and-cream palette anchors the entire experience, with soft pinks and rose accents for interactive elements. The typography and spacing create a distinctly coffeehouse atmosphere — relaxed but purposeful. The onboarding uses illustrated characters to establish the brand personality immediately.
Timer Engine: The Pomodoro timer supports configurable work/break intervals with smooth circular progress animations. The brew metaphor extends to the UI — the progress ring fills like coffee pouring into a cup, and session completions trigger satisfying completion animations.
Progress Tracking: Stats are presented as warm, card-based summaries rather than cold charts. Daily streaks, weekly patterns, and all-time metrics use the coffee theme consistently — "Total Brews," "Longest Grind," and brew-point accumulation make data feel personal and motivating.
